In today’s On the Media (NPR) libraries were featured in general and Judith Krug was remembered in particular. She devoted her life to making sure that we had “the means to arm ourselves with knowledge.” She started annual ban books list. Her recent death left a huge hole in the librarian universe and we will all miss her wit, insight and dogged determination to make sure that librarians could continue to do their job of making sure we are all armed–irrespective of our personal definition of what is “proper” for a library to collect and disseminate. She is a hero.
